That's right! If you were at last night's session (which was nothing short of incredible) you were the first to hear the big news. Dr. Sketchy's Philadelphia is moving to The M-Room! We'd like to send a big thank you to Fleisher and their wonderful staff for allowing us to hold our events in the Sanctuary for the past 2 years. We had a great time and enjoyed working with and getting to know you! I'm sure some of you are wondering about our move to The M-Room and what's in store. Well, let me tell you all about it! We'll be starting off with a BIG BANG by celebrating our 2 year anniversary (October 17th, 8-11PM) in "Classic Hollywood Glamour" with Hellcat Girls Burlesque (models TBA)! Hello there, faithful Art-Monkeys! We have some fantastic plans for our upcoming session "Vegas, Baby!" with Hellcat Girls Burlesque (tickets are on sale here), but first we want to ask for your help in spreading the word about our friend Box Brown. Box Brown was our featured artist at the July session. He was the gentleman signing copies of his recently released books for all of you. Unfortunately, about a week after that session, Box Brown lost his day job. We all know how tough the job market is and we at Dr. Sketchy's wanted to help Mr. Brown out by asking for your help/support. It's incredible how many talented people attend our sessions here at Dr. Sketchy's Philly. In addition to our Art-Monkeys, we receive photographers, videographers and writers who add to our little artistic community in a major way. For our March 20th, "Sketchy's in Wonderland" session, we were contacted by Andras Frenyo of A Panoramic Photo Blog. He asked to attend a session and record Dr. Sketchy's Philly in a way we hadn't explored yet - panoramic photography - a full 360 degree view! What a great way to highlight the great space Fleisher Art Memorial provides for us to hold our events in! The photos really make you feel that you are right there. The models in these photos are Key and Cherry Bomb of The Peek-A-Boo Revue. Remember our hot models, The Philly Roller Girls, from our Like, Totally 80s session last month? Well, this Saturday, May 2nd, is the last home bout of the season and it's the Warrior Cup Championship! The opening bout features the Butchers taking the floor against the Queens Of Pain from Gotham Girls Roller Derby! We've seen the Philly Roller Girls go up against NYC a couple of times and we are ready for this win! We are rooting for you, Butchers! Second bout features The Heavy Metal Hookers against The Philthy Britches competing for The Warrior Cup - the season championship title! This will be quite the match up as The Hookers have tried for the past two years to strip the Britches of their title. Third time's a charm? We'll see! So, all of a sudden April comes along and takes the rug out from under our feet! Yes, it's been a crazy month, Art-Monkeys, but we have not forgotten about you. We will make up for our lack of April posts with more fun stuff to come. SketchyCon '09 was this past weekend in NYC and holy hell, Art-Monkeys, did we have a ball! Molly Crabapple and the New York branch staff put on one hell of a show. We will not forget it. We arrived for day one's festivities at the Slipper Room - home of Dr. Sketchy's NYC. It was a session just for directors since most of us are running around with our heads cut off at our own events. It was a nice change of pace - we got to draw! Our models were NYC faves, Gal Friday and Amber Ray!
